Joy = the presence of God

A page from one of my old art journals, done in 2011.

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” (John 14:27)

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

What reassuring words from Jesus! Life will blindside us at times. Hard knocks will leave us reeling in pain, shock or confusion. Bad news will always find a way to creep in.

But we can still experience serenity and deep joy when God is at the centre of our lives. It’s not logical. It defies common sense. But that’s what makes it so awesome.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7, emphasis mine)

Thank you, Kelly! It’s great to see you again. 😀 I may look into making a few of my illustrations into printables.
